Židovské Sečovce

Sečovce boli v minulosti považované za židovské mesto. Dôvodom ľf bola skutočnosť, že napriek tomu, že židovská komunita tvorila len jednu tretinu obyvateľov, bola výrazne viditeľná. Takmer všetky obchody na námestí a na hlavnej ulici patrili židovským podnikateľom. Židia stáli na čele bánk, boli právnikmi, lekármi a lekárnikmi. V meste stáli dve modlitebne, dve synagógy a tri židovské cintoríny. Židia sa obliekali, stravovali, rozprávali, a aj žili inak, ako ostatní obyvatelia. Mali podivné písmo a tajuplné sviatky. Toto boli dôvody, prečo boli viditeľní a nápadní. A preto získali Sečovce prívlastok židovské mesto. Oprášme spoločne spomienky na tento zvláštny a tajomný svet. Môže sa však stať, že niektorí čitatelia tomu ani nebudú veriť, že židovské Sečovce vôbec existovali a budú si myslieť, že je to všetko vymyslené.

Sečovce was considered a Jewish town, in the past. The reason was, despite the fact that the Jewish community constituted only one-third of the population, it was significantly visible. Almost all shops in the square and on the main Street belonged to Jewish entrepreneurs. Jews held importatnt positions in banks, worked as lawyers, doctors, and pharmacists. The town had two prayer houses, two synagogues, and three Jewish cemeteries. Jews dressed, ate, spoke, and lived differently from the other inhabitants. They had a peculiar letters and mysterious holidays. These were the reasons why they were conspicuous and distinctive. Thaťs why Sečovce got the epithet „The Jewish town“. However, iťs possible that some readers might not believe, that Jewish Sečovce ever existed and might think iťs a fiction.
